The
British Academy of Composers & Songwriters
represents the interests of UK music writers
across all genres of music. Formed in 1999 the
Academy brought together writers of all genres;
creating a single powerful voice on behalf of
all UK music writers working across three main
areas:
Campaigning
Whether on questions of copyright protection in
the digital age, issues facing the subsidised
music sector or legislation affecting film and
broadcasting, the Academy speaks up for
Britain’s songwriters and composers.
Member Services
We endeavour to offer the highest level of
support to our members through a number of
services listed on our website and through our
personal service to them as individuals. Our
services aim to help writers to develop and
improve their music career and to foster a
community in what is frequently a solitary
freelance world.
Recognition
The Academy is proud to host and present The
Ivor Novello Awards which are internationally
respected as Britain’s major platform for
recognising its songwriting and composing
talents.
